In the bleak mid-winter, frosty wind made moan……A touch dramatic perhaps but comfort is what you need and comfort food is what you’ll get from Goodness Gracious at this time of year. Warm the cockles of your heart with one of our casseroles or curries – so delicious on a cold winter’s day. Get your casserole dishes out and try our Beef Bourguignon with Red Wine and Mushrooms. This is a classic traditional French dish and you can simply serve it rustically with French bread, rice or potatoes. Staying with the French theme we also have our new dish of the month; Navarin of Lamb – lean leg of lamb cooked slowly with red wine, baby onions & carrots. You can simply decant either of these into a pot, re-heat and serve with potatoes and French beans.
If you are looking for a touch of spice we have our Thai Vegetable Curry for 2 people which comes with a complimentary Basmati & Lentil Rice – a complete meal on its own and full of goodness. For a touch of Italian cuisine, we can offer you Herby Italian Meatballs served with a rich tomato sauce or our delightful Tuscan Chicken with Rosemary & Bacon. Defrost the dishes, read the cooking instructions and re-heat in the oven. It couldn’t be easier!
Time for a Price Increase
We don’t need to tell the food shoppers amongst you that the cost of food, water and electricity continue to rise. To ensure we can offer you the best quality and flavour we are having a slight price increase on some of our dishes from the 20th August. Our dishes are all blast frozen so whilst we give them a shelf life of 3 months in a reliable freezer they actually will last for 6 months. So why not shop, shop, shop and fill up those freezers now!
Nicky’s Break in England
Having just got back from a week in Knysna with her family, she is now hot footing it to England on her own to see her family and get an injection of inspiration and renewed vigour for Goodness Gracious to reach even greater heights. Our kitchen will be closed between the 30th August and the 18th September so please get those orders in and stock up before she goes away. We have dishes for all occasions so if you are an exhausted mother, stressed student, elderly or just don’t feel like or have time to cook then fill your freezer with a selection of Goodness Gracious dishes.
We have a brilliant courier who ensures that your meals get to you in the condition they left the Goodness Gracious freezer. We charge R100 for delivery to Cape Town and Hermanus unless the order is over R1,500 then it’s free – a little incentive but perhaps regard it as a discount! For Stellenbosch and the surrounding areas we charge R80 delivery unless the order is over R1,200 and for local deliveries in Somerset West, we charge a paltry R50. Most people tend to collect but if you are unable to then we are happy to deliver.
Container Sizes – What do they Feed?
Our dishes come in various sizes and our portions generous. Depending on the dish, a Serves 2 generally feeds a good two or three (unless you are a starving student) but if you are elderly, it will feed more! As a rule of thumb, our family size Serves 4 container feeds 4-6 people. For entertaining we have a larger size container Serves 8 which feeds 8 to 10 people but we need notice as we don’t always keep them in stock.
Happy Eating, keep warm and remember to stock up now!
