We don’t know about you but we are definitely in that hibernation stage of winter where we want to eat comfort food and live in our slippers! The Goodness Gracious team have the solution – it might involve a short drive to us but we really don’t mind you pitching up in your slippers. We have been working in our warm kitchen preparing comforting home-cooked meals which you can enjoy with a glass of red (or whatever tipple takes your fancy), good company and hopefully a roaring fire.
Winter to us means heartwarming casseroles so get those casserole dishes out and if you don’t feeling like cooking or just don’t have time to shop and cook, then simply buy from Goodness Gracious. This month we have added another lamb dish and although lamb is horrifically expensive it is definitely worth it now and then as a treat. Our Navarin of Lamb is back on the menu at R170 for a generous serving for 2+ or R340 for a dish which serves 4 or more. This is a real winter wonder; lean leg of lamb cooked slowly with red wine, vegetables & rosemary, topped with haricot beans. We like to serve this dish with dauphinoise potatoes (potato bake) or creamy mash with roasted garlic and perhaps some crunchy French beans. You can definitely tell your guests you spent hours creating this special dish.
We’ve also added a family favourite….good old Macaroni Cheese at R115 which will serve at least 2 and R220 for a dish which serves 4+. Now this is the ultimate in comfort food – our macaroni is cooked in a rich white sauce with a hint of Dijon mustard and topped with mature cheddar & cherry tomatoes. It’s delicious served with roasted vine tomatoes, drizzled with rosemary, seasoning and olive oil and baked in a hot oven until cooked. For a very easy and quick supper, this is a must for your freezer. For Meat-free Mondays (or any day of the week for that matter) order a Thai Vegetable Curry before 20th August 2017 and we’ll give you a complimentary Basmati & Lentil Rice (serves 2+) – that’s a fantastic vegetarian meal packed full of flavour and goodness that’ll feed two hungry people for just R130!
What would a winter menu be without an indulgent pudding? If you haven’t done so before, try our very special, very popular winter crumbles; Pear, Blackberry & Hazelnut Crumble or Apple, Raspberry & Almond Crumble. For R120 you can feed 3 people and for R230 you’ll be able to treat 6 lucky guests. We adore these delicious puddings full of winter fruits and they’re even better served with lashings of cream, custard or ice cream.
With spiraling food costs, inflation and all those other horrid economic things, we are having to increase our prices on some dishes from the 20th August. Rush to the Goodness Gracious freezers before the dreaded date or order now to take full advantage of our current prices. We have dishes for all occasions so have a look at our menu or visit our Facebook page for ideas. If that doesn’t suit you then just send Nicky an email – firstname.lastname@example.org. We keep stock but please give us up to a week’s notice, especially for larger orders, so that we can lovingly prepare the dishes which you have ordered.Keep warm and happy eating!
